Although wood stoves are traditionally understood to be the heating source
for off-grid living, it would be a good idea not to throw in the towel just yet on
other sources of heat.
Sometimes a large propane tank tied to propane heaters are a wonderful
additional source of heat. With the addition of thermostats and the ability to
connect to a large propane tank, you may be able to heat up your house in
the middle of the night without having to get up and re-stock the wood stove
until morning. You also can use propane heaters to zone heat small cool
areas of the house that the wood stove does not reach, or heat for short
periods of time without having to spend all of the time it takes to build and
maintain a large fire.
Research carefully, and you will be able to enjoy the benefits of a well-planned
heating system.
And lastly, don’t forget that all wood stoves have different features and
handle heat differently. Take your time to learn your stove before you buy.
